Using Server Browser to Play with your squad

Hey all.

So, if you read the in game news ticker, it even says right there "Quick Match is broken. Use Server Browser"

The server browser is VERY quick and easy to use.

Here's a quick guide to get your full squad into a good server on the same team (might have to resquad, but that's easy). First get everyone into your squad (derp)

a) Open Server Browser

b) RS Click for options

c) Set player count to 15+, mode to choice, ALL maps on, Normal/HC (anyone play HC yet? There are more normal servers so greater chance of finding server), and filter region. (USA include East+South+West)

d) Hit 'B'/Circle to go back to list. It will refresh and you will see a full page of 23/24 servers.

e) Hit up on dpad or LS. This puts you at the bottom of the list (lowest player counts)

f) Find the best ping server with 15-17 players.

g) Press 'Y'/Triangle to join said server

h) Profit

But, of course, if there are more than 2 of you in the squad, you will more than likely not all make it into the match, or will be placed on opposite sides if you find a server with enough empty slots on one side for all of you.

You are right ... I missed that little nugget, and haven't tried using the server size selection you suggest (15+). I don't know why the default setting typically jumps from 20 player servers to 0 player servers ... and shows nothing in-between.

I certainly do appreciate DICE giving us a server browser!

Default is "All"

You'd have to scroll down to find servers with room.

By setting it to 15+ the bottom of the list is perfect for a 4 man squad to join.

20+ is perfect for joining solo, or with 1-2 friends.

Also, We've joined as a squad, and been split, and then it auto corrected the next map change before. If not, and there is room on 1 team at beginning of next round, the "Team Switch" option should be available.

Though, as I said... 17 players means that 1 team has 4 open slots.

I do scroll all the way down ... just rarely find servers with between 20 and 0 players.

What are your other filter options?

ALL US regions checked?

ALL maps checked?

NORMAL game mode?

CQ, Rush, or TDM?

All US regions, maybe/probably not all maps, normal game mode, only CQ.

Set maps to all...

there is usually only 1-3 servers at a time with low enough player counts....

And naturally... prolly on maps you wouldn't select

If your settings are all set up properly, and there is still no server.

Just try refreshing every 30 seconds to a minute.

A full squad WILL quit a server at end of round within a cpl minutes.

But if they are really low they can split up your squad to both sides to make the sides equal. I have experienced this several times. You have to wait until the match is over to get all players onto the same side.

1 match isn't a big price to pay to get you guys together for round after round of action.

And we joined a game once... It put all 4 of us on 1 side and it was then a 12 on 8

True, but for a teamplay, squad-based game like BF3 ... it seems like it should be easier to get into a game with/as a squad.

It's just server demand right now....

I told the browser to include full servers.... there are over 1000 Normal mode servers for CQ & Rush in the US.... It said to be more specific when I did it lol

But the system breaks up a squad of 3-4 onto both sides when the server is empty ... it can easily put the four on one side and the randoms on the others.

Ah well, when you get into the same squad, it is such fun. Coordinating activities between squad members flying and those on the ground can be particularly fun and effective.
