DICE will claim to have the largest support infrastructure ever seen in the universe.
Game servers will crash on day 1, followed by a week of lag, DICE will patch the game and there will be a brief period of no lag, then back to lag again when DICE decide to patch the lag patch because its working too well and eventually a total lack of knife hit detection will follow and plague the game for the rest of its life.

@ the BC2 "cinematic" trailer. Those aren't cinematic trailers IMO, they're "ingame" and DICE even tried to make it look like it was actual MP by adding the name tags on top of the players at the end.

Fig, the point was that we all knew those BC2 trailers were scripted and polished... the BF3 trailers is actual MP gameplay... taken from actual games... so that is what it will actually look like.

The reviewers who saw the most recent PS3 version say it looks *ALMOST* as good as PC, the biggest difference is in reduced air particle effects and shadow blending along the edges of the shadows.

as for the game itself..... They are adding prone, vaulting, falling debris, fixed support/assault classes so they work better, suppressive fire, proper dynamic lighting (you can literally kill the lights), jets (ok, CQ only... but that's the only place they'll work), bigger maps...

I'd say that's a bit more then just rehashing the last game.

What does COD do?
new maps, a few new guns, and some perk swapping. that's literally it for gameplay.

Oh yah, and if you wanna get rid of the red dots.... just play WookieMode (or w/e they call it this time) seriously... it's not fucking rocket science

You can? I saw some footage and the guy was unloading on a light in the ceiling and nothing happened. Could be because it's alpha though... Since Demize confirmed that the destruction has been "locked" in the alpha.

Shooting out the lights is one of the features they've been bragging about... and there has been video of it in the metro trailers

I don't even like CoD btw, I don't know where you guys got that impression. I have bitched about CoD plenty and I've never said Activision was a great company or anything. I just have a hard time comparing BF to CoD and coming out with BF on top.

Ya I fully expect the servers to not work on day 1, I gave up expecting a company to actually know what the fuck they are doing when making video games, Ill have fun during the times that it does work though

Go in with low expectations, don't be disappointed. When the servers are down in release week I'll kill time with the SP. To be honest, in the UK at least the lag was barely worth talking about after release week. We never had the summer of lag that you guys got either.

Or just do like me and realize that shooting games suck these days and find something else to do.

And mention it every time you post.

Same, that's what the SP is there for.

all they need to do is rent 2x as many servers for the first mo....

They are big enough they should be able to set something like that up with serverbeach....

All they need to say is "Hey, you guys like making a shitton of money from us EVERY month right? Well how about letting us rent a ton of extra servers just for a mo without a contract k? k."

FFS, it's not rocket science guys.... the first week is going to have unnaturally high active player counts. by the end of the month they can determine how many they actually need to keep.

They don't need to rent an unnatural amount of servers. What they need to do is either make a server selection screen or recode their piss-poor matchmaking system to prioritize on filling rooms instead of throwing darts on a board.

lol well that too... but w/o enough servers, you won't get good ping servers most of the time...

They need to have enough in each region to satisfy the high demand of peak time for a just released game... EVERYONE plays it constantly in the first week... they need to be ready for that.... or it will cost them sales in the form of a huge used game turn around.

If everything goes smooth, all those finicky players will keep their game and people who want to join the party will more often have to buy new for lack of used sales copies
