Operation Flashpoint: Red River (360) looking for players

So I'm getting OF:RR on tuesday and looking for someone to team up with for MP and co-op

who's got it?

Was going to get it considering Dragon Rising co-op was pretty fun, but reviews have scored it pretty low, even Dragon Rising scored higher.




Oh and theres no multiplayer, its online co-op and SP play.

lmao yah, I gotta do a 2 page review O_O

Startin off with a cpl shitty games... OF:RR (which is the BETTER of the 2 lmao) and Rush'N Attack.... which just looks plain bad.

I need content for the article, so I'll prolly just focus on ripping into it as good as I can... make it a popcorn worthy review

OF:RR I dunno yet.... haven't played any OF's but I've not been impressed with what I've seen... still, get to try it now

I think the original OF game is freeware now or at the very least free-via-streaming on sites like gametap, so it could serve as a good reference point, although your eyes will probably melt just looking at the state of the graphics, I know its an old game, but even then, time has not been kind on the visuals. Vehicles, housing, terrain etc all look pretty good, but the character models and textures...just wow....

I got it on saturday actually, they overnight shipped it lmao

Played it a little bit.... a team would definitely help... it's like playing Ghost Recon SP sorta.... where you go down hella quick so you either gotta know where the enemy are ahead of time (easy since it's always the same) or move slowly to prevent them getting a drop on you.

Fairly well made if you like a war sim... but personally i find it painstakingly boring :-\

exclusion of MP seems a weird choice though... I guess consoles just don't have the market for a MP game like that.... or they didn't want the same buggy mess they had with the last 1.

In red, That comes down to personal Choice. Personally I love slower paced tactical games much, much more, then a fast paced arcade shooter.. Taking time, planning your moves, Using real tactics, etc.

On the MP, yeah it really doesn't work out to well on console and the series is known for being buggy online.

I understand some people like it, but it's a relatively small niche.

Also, IMO the ghost recon series is better on console if that's your dig... and for PC... Arma.

Operation Flashpoint could be the consoles own version of Arma.... but it doesn't hold up.... If they could nail down the MP though, they might have something... IF there was enough market for it. Most people tho, myself included, prefer a slightly more forgiving health system... though HC BC2 gets pretty darn close with open areas being danger zones.

I dunno, I've done Army training and running around IRL with 1 shot 1 kill systems set in place is all fun and everything... but in a video game it feels out of place.

The problem IMHO with the console OPFLASH games is they are trying to be in the middle, And loose the best of both sides.

Consoles cant do the Massive scale, Player count, etc that ARMA does. So they watter that down and streamline it. Also Console doesnt have the capabilities we have on PC such as Teamspeak, Modding, Server management, etc. So yeah your at the mercy of who ever you end up playing with in public games on console.

On the other hand you have small scale Tactical games like GR, But again OF tries to take some that that and then do some quasi Mix with ArmA style Gameplay. It just doesn't work without the tools and comunity behind it like it does in either of those games.

So, Ronin, how goes that review?

Both games aren't exactly all that great lmao, reviewing them really is like work lol
