I have mixed feelings though, it looks a lot like 1943 and BC1 mixed in with the no points in enemy bases. You know they'll find a way to fuck it up like having somewhere someone can snipe and it's not affected by the score nullifier. If you remember in 1943 people just spawncamped the boats, they waited til people got on the AA or got on the landers.

You also completely underestimate how bad snipers wanna be away from the battle. If they don't do it in their base they'll just do it in some bush on some hill, and if they're really serious about it they don't even care about points, they're just in it for the sniper feel so they can say "TARGET DOWN" to the TV.

Victory countdown like BC1 is good if it's with a timer. It'll also encourage more flag taking because I swear 90% of randoms still don't know you're supposed to take them. They see tickets go down when people die, they don't see tickets bleed naturally from not having flags. So I'm sure they just see them as spawn points that alter where the front lines of the battle are. If they saw like in BC1 that having no flags meant your tickets fucking plummeted and you lost (if there was a warning on screen that showed the timer 'til ticket loss) I think it would greatly improve the game.

problem with BC1 mechanics is that it makes a comeback almost impossible.

Say you're halfway between flags when the enemy caps the one you just left... by the time you make it to the next flag, which could only be 20-30 seconds, you lose like 80 tickets!

A victory countdown timer would mean you'd still only suffer BC2 drain for having no flags, and you need to get in cap range to stop the timer.

Take a flag (just neutral it) and the timer gets reset.

Additionally, you could win if you were down to 10 tickets, capped all bases, and ran the timer out, even if the enemy had 200 tickets still... so no matter what the ticket difference is, you ALWAYS have a chance to win.

The OOB HQ, or defended by automated defenses (Bryce's idea) would also keep players from camping the enemy spawn trying to steal vehicles, or get stupid easy kills, while really doing nothing for your team. It also means your team can count on HQ resources for your team.... If you are within that zone, you get no points, so as to avoid the Vietnam campers hiding in there base, and the victory countdown means if you can spawn trap them (Vietnam again) you only need to hold out for the victory countdown.

Honestly I really think this idea would fix 90% of the problems of Conquest.... no more spawn camping/base raping, no more ambiguity about the importance of flags, and a new victory condition to liven things up.

Yeah, but the BC1 CQ games still lasted long enough because they weren't linear. Remember Par For The Course? For your team to systematically take and hold all the flags meant you were a fucking beast team compared to the losers on the other team.

BC2 CQ it's all in a line, or there's clear chokeholds where you can just completely pin a team. Like the bases in Alta. So when they aren't linear like Arica Harbor/Port Valdez, they're like Alta or Presa where spawncamping is beyond easy. Look at Harvest Day. I haven't been playing BC2 all that much, so I'm no expert, but Harvest Day CQ looks like the most BC1-similar layout of map in BC2. Too bad it's a boring map. But still, you know what point I'm making, nonlinear maps with a bit more thought put into them would also fix many of these problems.

I'd rather have epic 2 minute CQ rounds than a 30 minute round where I only see an enemy a handful of times.

also funny how the posts don't match the votes lol

and I don't think bases being off limits is going to make air rape worse... that makes no sense... you STOP air rape by getting your helo up and then focus firing with helo and AA.... that's the BEST way to take out a superior pilot without resorting to stupid lame, im gonna go hide for 10 minutes while my team loses the map waiting for him to get damaged enough to fly over for repairs and hope he isn't smart enough to know there are safe spots away from HQ on every map where they can heal in safety anyways.

the reasoning of some ppl..... thin veils of poor excuses for wanting cheap kills during a base rape.... that's all it ever is

It was 10x better since the game wouldnt even attempt to spawn them away from you.

So you just stand behind a spawn point swinging your knife randomly. And no spawn protection.

Me and Shine used to get on Ascension CQ and I shit you not, we NEVER finished a round, we always got kicked for teamkilling each other over our favorite spawnpoints, or if it wasnt that, we were teamkilling our blues for bogarting the spawnpoints or trying to cap the last flag.

Ya, I never really cared too much about OOB when BC2 first came out, plus I didnt play a lot of rush, but when they released the Oasis map, I realized how piss poor of an idea it is, you cant go into their spawn to steal the chopper, you cant go in to C4 trap the UAV/Mortar gun, so instead it turned into a bunch of faggots sitting in the spawn hiding on the UAV, completely ruined the best map of BC1

Got stuck on Presa rush HC last night (absolute worst combination ever BTW rush and HC) and these faggots were sitting in their base sniping, at least by being able to spawn kill them it would soothe my annoyance with them once I go to their spawn

haha only to dismember these baseless arguments people make

the only arguments I have seen to the idea is
a) Those who enjoy spawn killing and want it left in
b) Those who like to steal enemy helos so they can lol air rape

and of course, it doesn't translate to Rush..... honestly don't know what to do there... if attacker spawn is OOB in rush, then they need to be on a timer. I dunno what else to do about that. (other then make attacker spawn NOT OOB...)

I dunno, but these rules fit CQ only
