| That thing is significantly less powerful than my phone... (336 mhz vs 1ghz and 32mb vs 567mb) - and no gpu (yes I know they can't actually be directly compared like that but still...)
From what I understand it is basically just an emulator...

| Phone = ~$200 after rebates + $50 per month + nonexistent battery life Dingoo = $40 + eternally charged battery
Plus it's set up like a Gameboy Micro with DS buttons (x and y) instead of a touch screen.
Works for me; it plays everything I want it to and I can load a significant amount of music/videos onto it as well. Its home screen is set up essentially like a PSP's, except it replaces the web browser with a file browser.

Try free w/ contract + £20 a month - Unlimited calls, texts + 3g data + a 2 day battery life. So what, do you have to illegally download ROMS to load onto it or do you buy games in some sort of market?

So what, do you have to illegally download ROMS to load onto it or do you buy games in some sort of market? Fuck you lol, shit's expensive here. What kind of phone do you have? Cuz I'm talking about like an HTC Thunderbolt, Droid 2, etc... http://www.doperoms.com/

http://www.doperoms.com/ HTC Desire - at the time equivalent to the Thunderbolt NHS discount ftw So it is, ROMs. Can it connect to the internet by wifi or do you just transfer from a computer? EDIT: Aaah, didn't realise the Thunderbolt is a CDMA version of the Desire HD. Pretty similar to my phone other than the size.

| Haha nice.
It doesn't have WiFi, unfortunately, so you have to transfer via computer... unless you get a WiFi-enabled mini SD card. It has 4gb internal memory (actually about 3.85, but yeah), and I believe it supports up to 4gb in the form of a mini SD. Not sure if you can have a larger card, but 8 gig is fine for a bunch of ROMs and some music.

| Forgot to mention... it's emulating pre-N64 games. It doesn't need to be as powerful as a phone lol | |

| A PSP also costs at more than twice as much, and that's just for a used one. And PSPs are kinda bulky... Plus adding custom firmware is a hassle and voids your warranty.
I hooked it up to my car stereo yesterday and it has surprisingly good sound quality.

good for kids on a car ride, and more for the parents to shut the lil shits up... that's about it Or for times when gaming on a tv screen isn't convenient (i.e. late at night, out of town, etc). I use this a lot, actually. The thing's sick. I used it today to record a song for our chem presentation haha. Not the final version of the song, just a preliminary recording to see what we need to work on. Worked pretty well! Plus you can't get ShinyGold (an awesome and addicting FireRed/LeafGreen hack of Gold version, but for GBA) on anything but a computer or nice mobile phone.

Laptop, DS, PsP, rolling dice, ect... Again... cost vs fun factor. Fuck, if I can afford a laptop.. I'm not getting a laptop. If I can afford a laptop, I'm getting a DVD navigation system for my car. Or two Xboxes. Or a plethora of candy. Or a dozen hookers. I don't need a fucking laptop. "Oh shit, there's a squirrel! Let's document its awesomeness in Word document form as I'm driving to Walmart!" DS... too bulky. They're huge and require way too much effort due to their second screen. PSP. Had one; didn't like it. Again, too bulky, and the game selection (and graphics) leaves a lot to be desired. I'll probably get the NGP when it's released, though. Dice. Well shit, you got me there. Nothing like rollin around the ol' dice. @Cptn: I can play that on the Dingoo.

| lolz, furry dice
Figured I should point out that my gaming over the past few months has consisted of games no newer than the GBA era, so this thing is awesome for me. However... FPS junkies wouldn't be able to survive with only the Dingoo.
But hey, it works for me. I still might buy Pokemon HeartGold for the DS, though.
