SOCOM 4 Beta

Try it, lots of laughs. Takes a while to get used to the 3rd person gameplay but in the meantime enjoy the magnificent graphics.

Is SOCOM another game where you die in one bullet and the best way to win is to camp?

Yeah you can download it, PSN store, go to search in the top right, look for Socom beta or whatever, you'll find it eventually. It's like a 700MB download and then when it's installed and running it downloads an extra 1500 through updates. So it takes a while to set up.

Gut, it's 3rd person, and there's a cover system, and headshots are always a 1 shot kill. So yes. It's very much a camping game. But it's RDR type of camping. Gunfights, not FPS type gunplay. I'm not saying the game is worth buying, just the beta is definitely worth playing since it's free.

I sold RDR and then bought a brand new copy for less then i sold my used one for.

The new Socom game's graphics are really, really, REALLY good. The nicest I've seen on PS3. If nothing else, that game has some nice graphics going for it.

And RDR type of camping where you can get in cover but see over it, seeing where they are in cover and so on. It's 3rd person shooting. GTA/RDR. But a lot more refined of course since it's all about the shooting and not cars and horses.

I wouldn't buy it though. April 19th it comes out apparently. Not worth buying, but definitely worth downloading the beta. Just seems like a game that would get old in a week or two.

I did say that you shouldn't buy the full game. It's not that great. I'm already bored of the beta, pretty much. It's a lot like MAG with great graphics but not as much teamwork and not as many people.


Beta ends Wednesday, the 13th.

Was boring, it's like MAG in 3rd person. I imagine the controls just take some getting used to but compared to TPSs like Uncharted it's extremely awkward.

Does take an hour or two playing to get used to it. Play Bomb Squad non-Classic if you want to play without dying and watching people play for 10 minutes.

Just watched some beta gameplay... You can dolphin dive AND SHOOT while doing so, you can fire away during the whole standing to prone animation and by the looks of it, you can stop from going prone at any point during the animation so you're like "IMA dolphin dive, oh the enemy figured out what I'm doing" *stops in midair and goes back standing*

Yeah, something like that. Nobody dolphin-dives during actual gameplay because that would involve hitting the triangle button (Y for 360ers) and it's extremely unproductive. I'm sure you can re-map the buttons in the full game.

There is a lot of dodgy stuff you can do while in cover, and grenades are all sorts of screwed up. You see probably 10 grenade suicides every game, many of them first-hand if you like throwing grenades, especially if you like throwing them while in cover, or when near any objects or locations whatsoever, including air and the sky.

Lots of spawnkilling too especially since it's a 1 shot kill headshot no matter with what gun. Game strategies all involve camping a lot, if anyone tells you they run and gun they are a liar, all the vets have this superior attitude of "lol you ran out and got killed."

SOCOM is the perfect game, the best game of all time ever, as I knew it would be.

It has captured my heart with its wonderful blend of camping and fail-nades.

RDR and GTA 4 are amazing games and I love BO more than any FPS currently on the market and the only thing I can find wrong with BO is the Famas so... suck my left nut.
