Draw your own conclusions. We armed the Mujahideen in Afghanistan, and there's millions of weapons circulating South America from when the US decided to arm the rebels in Nicaragua. And so on.

Smart to arm these rebels who are now on our side but may at some point cease to be so? What if they stay on our side but the used arms, after Gadhaffi's gone, trickle down into the other danger zones of Africa and the Middle East?

People are fickle, arming them would just come back to bite you in the arse later.

Way to go Colt, way to make m16's that last forever.

What we should do is mass produce weapons that are guaranteed to break within a certain amount of time, that way people won't be shooting us with our own guns.

lol. Name the new line of guns, tanks, helicopters, planes, boats, missiles, and ordinance the X-series. Export only, Apple-style marketing, only the coolest 3rd world nations get access to the XT-3 (Heavy tank), the XF-9 (fighter jet), and the XKNV-1 (combat knife).

"X" and "Y" are already a series, Fido. They're experimental until they're approve/unapproved.

It would be simple to make a gun like that, though. Either the gas/firing chamber would have a metal that corrodes with the gunk gunpowder leaves, or you can make picky, shit-designs that are incompatible with certain types of gunpowder. An example is the M16A1 issues when they switched from pellet gunpowder to ball gunpowder.

Why not just make it out of wood? For those rainy areas. Or make it impossible to take apart and oil. For those sandy areas.

Because people are innovative enough to make an automatic out of PVC piping. You don't want them to discard it and look for a more appealing bidder, but make it appealing just enough for them to buy the shit.

Just give em rocks and swords, didn't fail 'em in the past.
